1968 Scor 50th Anniversary 2018

The GAA talent competitions Scor and Scor na nOg were founded in 1968-69 by Corkman Derry Gowen. In the past fifty years club people from all the clubs in Ireland excelled in providing wonderful entertainment on stage doing their club and county proud. Carlow was no exception as the first Scor in Carlow was held in Ballinabranna Hall in 1970-71. In 1972 ,John McManamhy representing Eire Og won an All-Ireland senior Scor Title for recitation, Carlow went on to win a further five All-Irelands plus numerous Leinster titles.

To Celebrate the 50th Anniversary, Cumann Luthchleas Gael at National Level are urging all clubs to become involved and take part in this years competitions

Cumann Luthchleas Gael Ceatharlach are also asking all clubs to become involved and work closely with the National Schools in their area in preparing and coaching our young people for the different competitions. Last year, Palatine, St. Mullins, Kildavin-Clonegal, Grange led the way in the revival of Scor na nOg and more clubs have expressed an interest at this stage which is good.

A club need only enter one team, the competitions are

Rince Foirne, Aithriseoireacht, Leiriu (Novelty Act), Amhranaiocht Aonair, Bailead Grupa, Ceol Uirlise, Rince Set

The Scor na Og Table quiz co final will be held on a different night (details later)

The Scor na nOg Co Final is on Friday November 30th venue TBC with the winners going forward to the Leinster Semi-final on Sunday December 9th
