Organiser Joe Nolan speaking about the tournament :

“We have 21 schools fielding 27 teams in this inaugural Carlow Invitational 7s Hurling tournament. 6 counties are represented on the day – Carlow, Kildare, Offaly, Laois, Wexford and Kilkenny, and there is a great mix of schools from every grade. The event promises to be a great day of hurling  with 4 Carlow town venues – Carlow town hurling club, Eire Og, O Hanrahans and the outside pitch of Netwatch Cullen Park. Tinryland will also host a group too. The pitches will be shortened so the hurling will be fast and focus on the skills of the game.

We’ve been v lucky with sponsorship for the day. Intosport of Castlecomer will sponsor the main winners and runners up prizes, with Cumas hurling supplying all our sliothars on the day. We are also delighted to have James Jordan Hurls, St Mullins, John Jordan Hurls/Poc Ard, Wexford, Maher Handmade Hurls, Wexford and TJ Byrne Hurls, Bagenalstown on board too. Each are supplying Quality hurls as prizes too. Leinster Council have also shown their support for the event and we thank them for their help”

The tournament takes place all day next Thursday so let’s hope we get the weather that will compliment an event of this stature.
