‘Uniting a County’
Carlow GAA in conjunction with the Institute of Technology Carlow are proud to officially launch our ‘Uniting a County’ Coaching Conference for 2017.
Uniting a County takes place on Saturday April 15th in the Haughton Building of the Institute of Technology from 10am to 3pm. Proudly sponsored by ONeills, the cost per person is 20 and this can be paid online through the Carlow GAA website, other social media platforms and by clicking this link:https://eventgen.ie/uniting-a-county—coaching-conference.
Kilkenny Senior Hurling Manager, Brian Cody and Dublin Manager Jim Gavin headline the event while Steven Poacher and Martin Fogarty complete the line up. An innovative segment of the day will be the GuestPanel; alive discussion featuring current inter county and club, players coaches, managers and administrators etc. discussing what it takes to create unity in a county. This will add extra cache to what is already a stellar ticket.
Carlow GAA Operations Manager, Ronan Dempsey, explained the reasoning behind the initiative.
Instead of aiming specifically for nursery, youth or adult coaches we are going for a catch-all. We want to appeal to all strands of the GAA in Carlow and beyond.”
From the water carrier, the person who just watches games from the sidelines, the coach with underage teams right up to the manager of adult teams in our championships, we are trying to make it accessible to anyone who has even the slightest interest in GAA and particularly Carlow GAA.
The Conference is the last piece of the Forum jigsaw which started over three years ago when over a hundred people with an interest in promoting and improving games in Carlow met for the first time in the Lord Bagenal Hotel in Leighlinbridge. All the points which arose out of subsequent meetings were addressed, this Coaching Conference is the last of these.
In that time the relationship between IT Carlow and Carlow GAA has blossomed with much collaboration between both organisations. Donal McNally, Head of Sport is spearheading the College effort and his contribution to all things Carlow during his tenure should not be underestimated.
The conference promises to be one of the biggest of its kind:
It has taken us three years to get to this stage where we can host a conference of this size and this scale, says Dempsey. “Both Donal and Michael Dempsey, among others in the IT, have been of tremendous support in putting such an exciting event together”, he said also.
It is hugely exciting to have the quality of keynote speakers attending and the panel discussion section is something a little different which we feel will add a great deal of interest. Martin Fogarty and Steven Poacher will command the morning’s breakout coaching sessions alongside Carlow GAA’s GDAs and will use our Carlow Colts to demonstrate the very latest in coaching innovation.
Booking for the Conference is live from this morning and with spaces limited, getting in early is advised.https://eventgen.ie/uniting-a-county—coaching-conference
