Carlow host Leitrim this Sunday

Allianz Division 4 Football Round 6

Carlow v Leitrim

Netwatch Cullen Park

Sunday 29th March

3.00pm

Referee: Niall Ward  (Westmeath)

Carlow will look to bounce back from the injustice of being beaten by that late Offaly point in Tullamore with a win over Leitrim this Sunday. Carlow know nothing other than a win will do to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Carlow will not underestimate Leitrim who have put in two impressive second half performances against Offaly and London to lift Leitrim to fifth in the table, right behind Carlow.

Carlow will have to be very aware of Kevin Conlon who has scored an impressive 1-28 so far in this year’s league campaign. Conlon is a competent free taker who can also find the target from play.

Turlough’s men are chomping at the bit to grab a win on Sunday and will be keen to put in another good performance and the defensive unit that has not conceded a goal since the first game against Antrim . Kieran Nolan, Shane Redmond Benny Kavanagh and Sean Gannon have all had exemplary seasons so far and Carlow can rely on them to keep the positive performances going.

For Carlow’s promotion hopes to stay alive they could do with an Offaly victory over Longford so when Longford come to visit Netwatch Cullen Park it would be winner take all. That is provided the late Antrim drive for promotion is stifled by Offaly on the last day.  Elsewhere in division four London host Waterford, Antrim host Wicklow and Longford host Offaly.
