Carlow will host Laois on Sunday in a hugely important game for both sides. Carlow and Laois both suffered defeats the last day out with Westmeath staving off a Carlow comeback while Antrim scored a last minute penalty to beat Laois.

Carlow had worked hard to get back into the game twice against Westmeath where they bridged a five point gap late in the first half to go in level and then late in the second half they brought Westmeath back to two but it wouldn’t be enough.

Laois scored 3-22 and lost. The last minute penalty for Antrim saw them finish with 5-17. It was Antrim’s first competitive win of 2015. Laois beat Antrim during the league by four points and then met them again in a relegation play off where Laois won again and sent Antrim down to play Kerry.

Laois’s Zane Keenan finished the league with 2-44 and he went on to score 1-9 against Antrim in last week’s championship game. Martin Kavanagh added 1-7 against Westmeath last Sunday, he had finished the league 2-28. Both men can be very dangerous to the opposing defence.

Throw-in is at 3.30pm.
