1916 COMMEMORATIVE rECREATION OF COUNTY FINAL DAYs

In hugely exciting news; to coincide with the centenary commemorations of the Easter Rising 1916 Carlow GAA in conjunction with Carlow Tourism is staging a re-creation of the County Final Days that year. Details have yet to be finalised for this extremely special and unique event but today marks the unveiling of the official County Board plans and of course the official flyer to accompany this milestone occasion.

The proposed date for the County Final Day recreation is Saturday the 2nd April 2016 which would tie in neatly with the nationwide commemorative events taking place during Easter week. The Carlow GAA 1916 Finals re-enactment is believed to be the first official commemorative GAA event of its kind and we are hoping that the Carlow public will turn out in force on the day. Carlow Tourism are also working on their programme of events and it is hoped both organisations will dovetail their celebrations.

Further details will be released as they come on stream but from today onwards all Carlovians and GAA supporters far and wide can look forward to a significant marking of a hugely important event in our history.
